![]() The most known Remake project in the Doom community. I think the rules are outlined, and now we can get down to business. Still, I'm not sure about maps like used in Plutonia (Map#32 is basically a remake of Doom 2 Map#01), because it's just an easter egg and it doesn't offer to feel Doom 2 full experience, but I won't decline them as "remakes" to avoid unfair cuts from the list. And HD mods like " Doom Neural Upscale Project" are not counted here as Remake either, of course. So that means the " Doom the Way id Did" is not the Remake of Doom 1, because it doesn't use the geometry of the original maps as base. Basically, this concept is taken from Resident Evil Remakes, where it has the same storyplot but with additional details and upgraded mechanics, graphics and visuals. If someone asks, the meaning of REMAKE here is using the same storyplot and architecture layouts. There are thousands of custom WADS, and possibly I don't know EVERY WAD which remakes classic Doom IWADS, but I suppose I know most of them. Seeing how threads about Doom remakes or remasters appear from time to time, I decided to create a list of fan remakes. But I've played a lot of fan remakes done by other community members. Still, except my jokewads I never did a Doom 1/2 Remakes for real. I'm a big fan of videogame remakes (no matter the franchise), and I do like doing them by myself (mostly based on Doom sourceports, eh). ![]() Several ninja characters absent from Mortal Kombat 3 return in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, including Kitana, Jade, Reptile and Scorpion on the prototype version a new Ultimate Kombat Code was added in revision 1.0 to enable Mileena, Ermac and Classic Sub-Zero as secret characters. While most of the game have the character walking on foot, certain stages have the player riding a Motoroid, a hoverbike that can transform into an ostrich-like robot. The objective of each stage of the game is to reach the end by shooting at every enemy that gets in the way, and fight the boss awaiting at the end. Dead Space always knows when to slow down, hold back, and let you just soak in the atmosphere. Similar to BioShock's Rapture, there's a constant feeling that the Ishimura was once a place teeming with life-which makes the fact it's so eerie and silent when you arrive even more unsettling. As that famous bloody graffiti says: CUT OFF THEIR LIMBS! They're incredibly resilient, but can be permanently killed by severing their limbs with Isaac's arsenal of heavy duty industrial tools, which forms the basis of the game's combat. These grotesque reanimated corpses are flailing, screeching, shapeless things: like a heap of severed limbs squished horribly together. The creatures infesting the Ishimura, called necromorphs, are straight out of the Stan Winston school of monster design-particularly his work with John Carpenter on The Thing. You learn about life aboard the ship before everything went to shit, and uncover clues about a larger mystery that would be expanded upon in the sequels. As Clarke works to restore power to the ship and activate a distress call, he move through different parts of the ship: from engineering through to medical, up to the crew quarters and the bridge. Dead Space is an over-the-shoulder shooter that blends slow, atmospheric horror with frantic, bloody action-and sustains a masterful balance of the two for the entirety of its 11-hour runtime. |
